In my practice, I offer adults the opportunity to achieve growth and healing through various treatment methods.
The Connection Between Body and Mind
In recent years, scientific journals have been filled with this topic, and it has slowly but surely become an established fact that body and mind are inextricably linked. From an early age, our inner world seeks balance in response to changes in our outer world. Our ability to adapt is challenged every day. Everything we experience or go through in life is stored in our body and brain. Our body, brain, and (subconscious) emotions are therefore an invaluable network of information. A source from which you—and therefore I—can draw. And this is what I work with in sessions using both Psychodynamic Therapy and Brainspotting.
What is my approach during our sessions?
As your therapist, I will be active, emotionally engaged, genuine, and authentic. I will observe, empathize, and breathe with you. I may also need to offer constructive feedback. But know that I will always respect your feelings. I work cognitively, but above all in a body-oriented way, and I will be there to encourage you, to reflect your thoughts and feelings, and occasionally to offer advice and validation. This will create awareness, leading to greater clarity and improved relationships with others, but above all, an improved relationship with yourself.
The first session
During the intake, I will observe you and listen to you. You are more than welcome to come with any request for help. Together, we can explore whether I can be of service to you. In the intake, I can give you a sense of how I work and what I will ask of you. Trust and collaboration. Our first meeting during an intake is therefore an important step. An important step toward the process that you and I will embark on together, if you choose to do so.
The process is tailored to you
My experience with both psychodynamic therapy and Brainspotting is that it takes time, love, and patience. It’s a learning process to develop awareness, learn new patterns, and integrate them into daily life. That’s why you can definitely expect 4 sessions or more. But I also want to emphasize that everyone is unique. You can choose what feels right for you and what suits you best. That’s why a treatment plan looks slightly different for everyone.
Multiple languages
I offer therapy in both Dutch and English.
